Season notes

September

Lifted the potatoes. A good crop of the early variety, the main crop had some slug damage. Sowed winter salad under the cloche.

August

Watering every evening during the dry spell. The water butts ran out twice. Picked the first tomatoes and a huge amount of beans.

June

Planted out squash and courgettes after the last cold night. Netted the brassicas against pigeons.

April

Sowed beetroot, chard and carrots directly. Started tomatoes and peppers indoors. Repaired the path between the beds.
